                                                     About Us

The Taxijet concept was conceived at 36,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean in the winter of 2004 as an alternative to an airline pilot career that ended abruptly.  The company was founded by Roger Burton of Union, Missouri in January 2005 and the Taxijet.com web site was first published in March 2005.

Roger earned his Private Pilot certificate in 1982 and has since flown the A-4 Skyhawk and AV-8B Harrier for the U.S. Marine Corps. He began his military career as an Electrician's Mate in the nuclear power Navy.  He received a Navy ROTC scholarship to Oregon State University with a major in Computer Science.   He participated in Desert Storm and served in numerous billets including Forward Air Controller, Legal Officer, Administrative Officer, Intelligence Officer, Maintenance Safety Officer and Assistant Operations Officer.  After honorable separation from the Marine Corps he started his civilian career as a flight instructor and charter pilot, flying the Cessna 421B, for Lenair Aviation in Orange County California, (CFI/CFII/MEI/ATP).  Roger flew the Canadair Regional Jet for Atlantic Coast Airlines but was furloughed when ACA broke its ties with United Airlines and became Independence Air.  He flew the Boeing 757 for American Trans Air but was furloughed when ATA went into bankruptcy.  His tale of furlough is a common story in the airline industry but Roger shifted his focus to the coming revolution in air travel and created Taxijet as his third career.
